reading is for everyone

Aspire Learning Commons is a great extension of the classroom and is the hub of the school. It houses student fiction and non-fiction books, professional resources, desktop computers, and a mounted projector for lessons and presentations. With so many resources readily available, the Learning Commons is used daily by students and staff.

Classes visit the Learning Commons not just to borrow books but also for story time, to utilize the computers for research, to participate in I-ready, to play educational games, and to participate in lessons pertaining to the Learning Commons skills and grade-level curriculum.

Pamela Fabits, our Learning Commons Paraprofessional, assist our students and staff with all their library and digital needs.  Ms. Fabits collaborates with the staff to provide exciting lessons that are appropriate and pertain to the current curriculum of each grade level.

The Learning Commons displays are routinely changed with the seasons and also to highlight different authors and celebrations. One of the highlights of the Learning Commons is the participation in Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’s birthday. The Learning Commons is transformed to celebrate both activities. Students visit the Learning Commons during this time to participate in crafts and to hear Dr. Seuss books read by guest readers from the community.
