Lassiter Students Share the Stage with the Atlanta Opera

October 12, 2026 — At Lassiter High School, choir and orchestra students regularly have opportunities to learn from some of the top performers from around the world.
Over the past month, the Atlanta Opera has stopped by the Lassiter Concert Hall to meet with choir and orchestra students and to work toward a joint performance.
"The students here are getting world-class exposure. These are opportunities that across the state and across the nation, many students don't receive, and I am just so grateful to Cobb County," said Lassiter choir director Chelsea Green.
Together, the Atlanta Opera, Lassiter choir, and orchestra put on a unique and incredible show that left students and families with lifelong memories.
"It's been an incredible experience to work with these professionals and learn so much more than I ever thought was possible to learn," said Lassiter senior, Chloe.
Partnerships like this one with the Atlanta Opera are another example of why Cobb Schools has been named one of the nation's Best Communities for Music Education for more than two decades.
These experiences, while unique to many, seem common at Lassiter. From signature holiday concerts and partnerships with top performers in Atlanta to taking their music to the international stage in places like Greece, the Lassiter fine arts program ensures that each student leaves with a host of memorable experiences.

While Lassiter took center stage with this performance, the Atlanta Opera partners with all Cobb Schools to ensure students across the district have a chance to learn from experienced musicians.
"It is a beautiful partnership that we have. We work really closely with Sarah Womack to bring programming into not only Lasseter, but we go to every elementary school and every middle school in the county," said Atlanta Opera Assistant Director of Education, Amy Williams.
The Atlanta Opera will continue to work with Lassiter students in the coming weeks in workshop sessions as they continue to give valuable experience to Cobb students.
